Man, dating sure would be easier if I could just get the CIA to check
them out before I went out with them. Emma convinced me to go and see
this film (I was actually going to go and see Ghost Rider). I thought
to myself that this was going to be another one of those testosterone
filled movies where the best man won. I was not entirely wrong.
Although this film was about as predictable as putting a kernel of corn
in some hot oil, it did keep me entertained. And can I just say…..
eye-candy for everyone! What I wouldn't give to be in Reese
Witherspoon's shoes for just a couple of hours. The one thing that I do
have to say is that it seemed that all the funny lines were in the
trailer. You can basically get the whole story just from watching it.
And speaking of trailers…… I was almost finished with my popcorn before
the movie even got started (Emma warned me about this, but I thought
she was exaggerating…. She wasn't). Anyway, the thing that I did like
about this film is that nothing dragged on too long. No long fight
scenes, no long make-out sessions and no long political mumbo-jumbo.
Lauren (Reese Witherspoon) was a totally out of touch with the dating
world and thank goodness she had a friend like Trish (Chelsea Handler)
to keep her grounded. Trish was actually my favorite character in this
film. She was definitely the comic relief and I always wanted to know
what she was going to do or say next. The bromance between Tuck (Tom
Hardy) and FDR (Chris Pine) was mildly entertaining and I thought that
they played off each other well. There was one point when they got a
real good close up of Chris (with those gorgeous baby-blues) and I
didn't even realize he was talking (smile). I would be remiss if I
didn't mention my home-boy, Til Schweiger (Heinrich). It's good to see
him in an American film for a change or any film for that matter since
he is usually directing or something. To sum things up, this is
definitely what I would consider a chick-flick. Was it the best
romantic comedy I've seen this year??? No, but it was entertaining and
the cast was well put together. This is not a must-see film, but it was
good enough for me to give it an amber light.
